West Rim or South Rim?

It's really quite a simple proposition. If you're starting from Las Vegas, fly to the West Rim. If you're coming from Phoenix, Scottsdale or Sedona, go to the South Rim.

The West Rim, which is situated on the Hualapai Indian Reservation, is home to the Grand Canyon Skywalk, the glass bridge that lets you walk 70 feet past the edge! This rim is also the only place where helicopters can fly to the bottom.

The South Rim, elevation 6,000 feet, is where you go for scenic beauty. Odds are that any pictures you've seen of the National Park were shot here. Highlights include Mather Point, Yavapai Point and historic Grand Canyon Village.

Helicopters do not fly between the two rims. However, if you are in Vegas, there is direct airplane flight to the South Rim that you can upgrade to include a helicopter ride. More information about this trip is in the "yellow" box below.

Types of Tours

Options are limited to air tours and landing tours. The West Rim offers both, while the South Rim hosts only aerial trips. West Rim landing packages are quite impressive and can include Grand Canyon Skywalk tickets, Champagne picnics, Colorado River boat rides, float trips or a Gold Mine tour.

Fly Direct: Vegas to Grand Canyon South. Hand's down the fastest, most comfortable way to get to the National Park from Sin City. Flight time is just 45 minutes. En route, fly over Hoover Dam and West Rim. Land at South Rim airport. Upgrade to include rim-to-rim helicopter ride and/or transfer to luxury tour bus for 2.5 hour guided excursion inside the Park. This is you ticket if you've got your sights set on this rim. More information.

Rules of Engagement

There are 2 steps you need to follow in order to capitalize on the coupons listed on this page. The first step is to book your trip in advance. My suggestion is no less than 72 hours. The second is purchase your trip online. Failure to do so will result in you being billed full retail price. Yes it's tempting to call customer service. But know that these folks are professional sales people who will try to sell you a more expensive tour. There's also the possibility that you'll be slapped with a "processing fee." Skip the havoc. Book online.
